Community Housing Funding Opportunity
The Parish Council have been made aware of a funding opportunity for community groups looking to deliver affordable housing.
Chelmsford City Council has been allocated money through the Community Housing Fund, which has been matched by money from other grants to make a total of £41,135 available to help communities create new homes for local people.
Community-led housing is a way for residents to create their own affordable, good-quality homes. It’s designed and managed by local people and built to help the community, not for private profit. Types of community-led housing include cohousing, self-help housing, community land trusts, cooperative and tenant-controlled housing, and can include rented or shared ownership tenures.
The Council is inviting applications from community groups for specific projects to support the development of community-led housing. The funding can be used in a number of ways including the legal and administrative costs of forming an organisation, survey or design work, or even construction costs. Funding will only be allocated to community-led affordable housing schemes which meet key criteria.
These criteria and other further information, including how to make an application, are available on the following webpage www.chelmsford.gov.uk/communityhousing
The deadline for submitting an application is 12pm on Friday 11 January 2019.
