My wife Wendy and I have in the village since 1987, and our children all attended Boreham Primary School, one of which still lives in the village with husband and two children. My other two children are both married and live within the Chelmsford area. When my children were at the school I was Chairman of the then PTA and was also Vice Chairman of the school Governing body.
In 2015 I took early retirement to join my wife who had already retired as a Primary school teacher. Prior to retirement I was in the construction industry for 45 years in various forms starting out with an apprenticeship as an Architectural Technician and then a Surveyor in the Metropolitan Police looking after buildings like New Scotland Yard and then finishing with being Head of the Estates of the largest College in London.
After retiring in June 2015 I had many conversations with John Galley Chairman of the Parish Council to find out more about the Council. In November 2015 I was coopted on to the Council where I am on the Planning/Finance and the Staffing Sub Committee. I am very pleased at joining a very active Parish Council who are passionate about providing a good community service and also being all-inclusive to the village. In the 18 months that I have been on the Council I have enjoyed working and finding out more about the working of Parish Council and how we all can contribute as parishioners to providing a vibrant community.
